Children and adolescents will practice developing nonverbal communication skills, emotional regulation, cooperative game skills, and social communication skills.  Our social learning groups are based upon Michelle Garcia Winner’s, CCC-SLP, Social Thinking concepts and core principles (www.socialthinking.com)  In addition, strategies from the Zones of Regulation (by Leah Kuypers, OT) curriculum will be introduced to help group members problem solve conflicts and manage their impulses and emotions.  Participants will learn and practice social interaction skills in a group environment taught by Speech-Language Pathologists.  Students are grouped according to age and social communication skill level.  Learning will occur through hands-on, cooperative activities and projects.

Participants will engage in topics such as, initiation, social attention, emotional regulation, perspective-taking, and flexible thinking

Problem-solving, idea sharing and collaborative decision-making are focal points of the group

Best suited for children who are fully conversational in home and school environments

A parent wrap-up at the end of each day will review vocabulary
